Broken Braces (What To Do)

Introduction:

It is not unusual for braces to break over time. Whatever the cause, the important thing is to see your orthodontist at the first sign of trouble.

Symptoms:

if you notice that a wire has become loose and is pressing against your gum, call your orthodontist right away. If a piece breaks off entirely try to retrieve it, don’t try to replace it yourself.

Diagnosis:

Call your orthodontist and describe to him what has happened. He will advise you to come in to the office for immediate attention or what to do until your next scheduled appointment.

Treatment:

Repairs are usually easily accomplished, but it is important to contact your orthodontist asap so that he can make adjustments before more damage is done.
